PIANO DUO
Founded in 2005, the Schweizer–Medetbecova Duo is delighted to share its passion for the great repertoire of piano four hands.
The musical, technical and stylistic mastery of both pianists, combined with their natural rapport and obvious complicity, are the hallmarks of a captivating performance from beginning to end.
The duo toured Indonesia in 2015, Kyrgyzstan in 2009 and 2017, and Macau in January 2025, where they performed at the 14th Macau Piano Competition.
They were also invited to inaugurate the auditorium of renowned piano maker Stephen Paulello, creator of the 102-key “Op. 102” piano, performing Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.

KANYKEY MEDETBECOVA
Kanykey Medetbecova is a French pianist and composer of Kyrgyz origin who has lived in France since 2002.
A highly respected artist in her home country, she was, until 2002, a piano professor at the Kyrgyz National Conservatory, the country’s leading institution for higher musical education.
She has taken part in numerous contemporary music festivals and has performed in Türkiye, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Macau and France.
As a composer, she has written mainly vocal works, piano pieces, works for saxophone ensemble, a concertino for piano and chamber orchestra, music for the theatre, and the score for the ballet Eternity, commissioned by the Bishkek Opera.
She was awarded the Special Jury Prize for Composition at the Lucida degli Specchi International Competition in Lucca/Massa, Italy, for her Concerto for Piano and String Orchestra.
Since 2002, she has taught piano at the National School of Music in Villeurbanne and at the EBER Conservatory.
